Dekkas Rock Group Campground is located in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest on the McCloud Arm of Shasta Lake. I thought this camp was sugar-coated, finger-lickin' sweet. It is set on a flat peninsula above the McCloud Arm. You'll have beautiful views of and easy access to the lake (click here to see what I mean). Plus, the campground is 2.4 miles from the Hirz Bay boat launch ramp.
The entire campground is shaded by Ponderosa Pine and Oak trees. Having shade is critical when you camp in a location that can get up to 115. No big deal though, since you have a huge lake to swim in and multiple access points from this camp. Roads and parking spurs at the camp are all dirt.
The views of the lake here are breathtaking. Amenities include an industrial size sink, 8 tables, 2 large pedestal grills, 1 large family bbq grill and 2 campfire rings. Extra parking for boat trailers and overflow is available as well.
